I just discovered Soul Eater this weekend and hot damn was I ever impressed, so much so that I watched the whole series
in one sitting.
Truth be told I haven't been able to get into anime in years, so it was refreshing to find a series that
could restore my faith in the genre.
It's smart, addictive and the art style is absolutely to die for.
They've got the whole series on Netflix right now, so if you're itching for something do on a slow afternoon check it out.

Oh man I love this show! Krona is one of my favorites. Poor guy, you just wanna hug him. :( Weird thing, one day at my old dayjob, I heard a low sobbing coming from the corner of my eye, I see this HUGELY muscled, enormously tall man-child person who by the look of it I am guess was in his late twenties or near twenties. Despite the fact that physically, he looked like a grown man and he could break your arms easily without even thinking about it, he was sadly mentally challenged however, and had a very dissonant fragile and helpless little child voice that sounded EXACTLY TO A T like Krona's...On top of it, he was having a bad temper tantrum about something, sobbing his heart out, and his mother who had a scratchy hoarse cranky voice, not unlike Ragnarok's, was around four feet tall or so in contrast, and she kept yelling up at him to stfu, or she would have to hit him to make him stop crying and the police would then take him away from her. I felt bad for the both of them, as for what I could see she did not really WANT to hit the boy but felt really incredibly stressed by his behavior, and her threats to him only made him act out worse. It was so, so peculiar, seeing this tragic situation, but unable to shut down the stupid insensitive unconscious voice going "omg Soul Eater, omg Soul Eater..." all throughout it. :P

I went to school with a kid like that. He was super nice and as you said, child like. The sports kids would torment him
endlessly even though you could tell he could snap them in half if the thought ever occurred to him.
The black kids eventually adopted him for whatever reason and protected him when the need arised so he ended up okay.

Yep, Crona is one of my faves too, he's a text book tragic character but incredibly likable for it.

Dr. Stein and Medusa's odd dark relationship also I think was my favorite element. I never got to see the episode of her final demise, but I am really bummed to learn that Maka not Krona didn't off her. That really pissed me off.

Yeah, (spoiler alert) Medusa kills Crona and Maka goes berzerk and kills the shit out of her. I don't often get choked up by movies (much less cartoons) but it got me
right in the feels. Ragnarok even admitted to caring about Crona and everything, manly tears were shed on the fo' rizzle.

awww ragnarok cares? That's sweet. Almost kinda wished though more he turned out truly bad in the end/had regained his powers, either thru Medusa or on his own, and Krona finally said in response to his evil taunting- "I AM DONE WITH YOU!!!" and beat him off. But oh well.
